Sadly leaving idnet and have just received my MAC code. I use Outlook 2007 and would like to carry on using one of my idnet.com email addresses for the time being when I move to BT, yes I know ::), so is it just a case of changing the incoming/outgoing mail servers in the account settings? I seem to remember somebody saying the email address would stay live provided it's being used or does that only refer to webmail? Thanks for any help; slightly stressed as also moving house shortly as well  :(

Simon

I believe the email address will stay 'alive' as long as it remains active.

Thanks gents; I've already been given a btinternet.com email address for the new place which obviously uses mail.btinternet.com as the incoming and outgoing servers, so will they replace the current incoming (mail.idnet.com) or the outgoing (smtp.idnet.com) to still receive my idnet emails?

Hi,

For incoming email, you will still need to use mail.idnet.com. For outgoing email, you can use smtp.idnet.com with authentication (using the same username and password that you use for incoming email) or the SMTP server of your new supplier. Some network providers prevent the use of 3rd party SMTP servers, in this case you will need to use the SMTP server of your new supplier.

Thanks Brian, that's just what I needed.

Hi, When I moved over to BT in August I contacted Idnet and they were most helpful about the use of idnet.com emails and it is still my preferred way of receiving messages.  ;D
