I have an idnet.com email address.

In my inbox, I have just received an email for someone else with an idnet.com email address ?????

What goes?

Lance

My guess is that is either spam or a redirect is in place. If you send idnet the headers they should be able to tell.

Yes, on looking again, it probably is spam, it also had a .exe attached, it was supposedly a "voicemail" message, but I never opened it to find out. I have forwarded it to support with the header info.

Just couldn't initially understand why it was in my inbox, with some one elses idnet email address on it?

Thanks.

Technical Ben

Sometimes the spam emails list lots of names in the headers (CC/BCC etc). Sometimes try to spoof the names, though I'm not sure how that works (my BT address use to get close spellings of my name, even when there was typos in the address from the spam).
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

I think that happens when it's sent to the address you can see, and with your address in a BCC list.

But I stand to be corrected on that!

Hi,

We are taking a look at this currently. It appears to have been BCC'd to you and was from a non idnet email address. We will email you back directly with the update on this one. It is almost certainly spam.

Kind regards

The voicemail spam with an .exe attachment is doing the rounds at the moment.  :(

Gary

Justina just had an odd email from an idnet.com address purporting to be about a complaint to Companies House from her  :dunno: no attachment just a link which was not touched, its now been deleted.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Simon

Did you forward the email to IDNet, Gary?
Simon.

Justina deleted it before I had  chance, Simon. She just hit junk, which is fair enough, but ill check my spam filters to see if I got one, then if I did ill forward it. Beware emails from a kevin at idnet.com which of course is not from a Kevin I imagine.
