configuring outlook.com account in OE

I decided to open an outlook.com account as a way of storing old emails (all my email accounts are IMAP ones, so my main IDNet one gets full fast).  I had no problem configuring the account in Outlook 2007, but using the same settings, I'm unable to make the account work in Outlook Express (where I have some large emails stored in a local folder that I want to transfer to outlook.com) - the outlook.com account is unable to connect to the server and download the IMAP folders.  I thought the problem might be that OE doesn't allow me to choose TLS for the required SMTP port, so I tried configuring my gmail account in OE too, as it let me tick SSL for the SMTP port - that didn't work either, because the server sent an 'unrecognized greeting'.  I'm now wondering if OE isn't able to support either gmail or outlook.com IMAP accounts - as I said, I have the accounts set up fine in Outlook 2007.
