Quick question regarding new 21.5" iMacs, are they wireless only for LAN connectivity?

No, they've got a gigabit Ethernet port.

If he does get one, tell advise him to get AppleCare with it- when/if a Mac goes wrong it can get damned expensive :eek4:

One of the very few extended warranties that's worth the money, imho.

Also get all the ram you need at point of sale, the 21.5" cannot be upgraded the ram is behind the glued in monitor unlike older iMacs where it was accessible.
