HP only 1 year Warrenty?

Am I reading things wrong, does HP only offer 1 year warranty on their laptops? I thought things needed 2-3 years min these days?
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

I thought legally they had to offer 2 or 3 years? I can get that on a lot of other products. :/
