They're probably a bit late in on the act possibly trying to protect their Surface Tablets, Office is Microsoft's cash cow after all.

You can get real basic function (probably less than wordpad) from a live account.
Under cloud apps, live apps or whatever name they changed it to this month.

Hopefully the Android version will automatically adapt to tablet screens so that they aren't forced into buying an iPad.
