The co-founder of Sun Microsystems believes that artificial intelligence will do a better job of running IT than humans.

A computer is a tool. It's as good as the most perfect hammer is at hitting in a nail. A car drives as well as the perfect car.

A perfect bird is not a perfect fish. A perfect penguin is not a perfect sea lion.

Thus, a perfect robot is still not a human. To be "better than humans" is nothing, as a hammer is better than a human at hitting a nail into some wood... ;)

Surely the hammer is only as good as the human operating it? Also in its resting state its no better or no worse as it is not really a hammer till its used, it may look like one we may call it one, but it could be used for many things apart from hitting nails until we use it as a hammer. ;)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Yep. No disagreement there.

A computer is best used with a good operator. Those who let them "run themselves" are just passing the blame for when it goes wrong... as it only responds to what it's told to do. Always be careful, computers do EXACTLY as we tell them.

"How would you like your haircut sir"
"A little of the top please... arghhh!"
