Hi guys,

Just a quickie... right I'm looking to buy a new monitor, to replace my iiyama CRT.

It has to be an LCD monitor and I'm looking at buying 22"> 16:9

I'm interested in THIS I like all of the features, but haven't had any exp with benq (basically are they good?) I need it for a number of things:

1.) I like the idea of the HDMI input, so PIP, movies, games etc
2.) I'm going to be using the panel for graphics work, good colour reproduction etc is essential.

Any recommendations would be great :)

Thanks

BenQ seem to have got quite good reviews, Dave. Personally, I like Viewsonic and Eizo, but the panels all probably come from the same factory in Korea. :)

To my mind, an essential quality in a monitor is the ability to adjust the colour temperature and the BenQ would fail in that respect. It's worth looking at something like the Pantone Huey Pro with any high-end monitor.

If you intend to use for gaming at all, make sure that your graphics card is up to displaying at its native resolution of 1900 X 1200.  This could become a problem if you run with fancy bells and whistles, ( lighting, shading, AA etc).

The newest cards should'nt have a problem but some older ones might.

I'm building a new system soon, so new graphics card, cpu and ram - so I think I should be ok :)

Cheers for the heads-up tho zimmerframe

I had to return my monitor cause of gradient banding beyond anything ive seen before! Called up, gave a code - it was replaced the next day at 8am!! Thats 12 hours time

edit: Sam, I'm guessing you posted this in the wrong thread (new laptop required) so have moved it here! Shout if I'm wrong though!

I was looking at one of those for my new system, but went with the Viewsonic VP231wb instead as the Dell doesn't have the ability to set a colour temperature of 6500K, essential for graphics work.
