Hi

Understand BT has bought up Brightview (includes Madasafish, Waitrose etc.) Is this correct?

It is subject to the Brightview shareholders approval at present Robert.

There is some news about it at ISPreview >>> HERE <<<

Makes you wonder if BT won't end up owning all the internet/phone  services again.

curly

Very sorry to hear the sad news.

Must admit I have been on the point of joining Madasafish (I'm on dialup at present) but something made me wait. I'm glad I did, I don't like the arrogant way BT operate.

I suppose as more small ISP's are bought up by the giants the remaining small, efficient ones are becoming more exposed and difficult to avoid being swallowed.

It is a worry, Robert. The smaller ISPs will struggle to compete against the "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap" operators. They will have to concentrate on service, rather than price, and target the people, like many IDNet customers, who are looking for that and reliability, rather than headline price. Unfortunately, they will always be dependent on BT for much of their performance.

I wondered what made you look at joining them?

They hold you in a 12 month contract and their 5GB package is the same price as Idnet (yes you get a 6 months discount but that is it) and from reviews I think you can find better ISP's.

I agree DB, I looked at them, well Waitrose actually ( same outfit ), but soon realised they were not up to IDNet standards..  ;)

Well Done Curly,

I signed up to madasafish on 15/06/07 and was still waiting for a BROADBAND SERVICE until yesterday (25/7/07); I cancelled it, having become Madder-Than-a-Fish waiting for a B.T. long line fault to be resolved - Can't help feeling they was something fishy going on!!!
