What keeps trashing my Billion routers?

Came home tonight to find the DSL sync light flashing on my 2 month old Billion 8800NL.

Rebooted it and it momentarily regained sync and then dropped, regained and dropped.

Rang Zen to find out what they could see as am connected to their LLU kit.

Three of their customers (me and two others) are apparently connected to the same piece of kit, their connections have apparently been steady but mine was down from 12 apparently and then they saw lots of drops after I rebooted it.

Switched back to a Netgear DGND3300 I keep as a standby but it doesn't sync as high.

Seem to have an issue with Billions on this 3km line.

Going to raise a case wth Billion but anyone have any ideas?

Is the downstream margin the same with the Billion and the Netgear?

Roughly yes.

Removed the faceplate last night and connected the netgear to the test socket.

Got up about 12 to find it synced but auth dropped.

Rang Zen who said it had been in sync all night but dropped auth around 11 p.m., errors were minimal.

Asked me to change the RJ-11 lead (only thing I hadn't changed) and it's been up for about an hour now.

I've been using a BiPac 7800n for some time now. Both with ADSL and more recently with FTTC. Generally its been rock solid for months at a stretch and as a result I would have no hesitation in recommending it if that was the pricepoint a potential buyer was considering.
The other benefit is that support seems to be UK based, which is a big plus should you ever need it.
I've had one go a while back, where the wireless failed. I believe that to be due to a sudden power outage.
I've certainly never had any problems such as you describe.
I'm assuming you have updated to the latest firmware? They do seem to update it fairly often.

Apologies, forgot to update this thread, replaced the RJ-11 lead with a longer one and put the 8800NL back and all ok for the past 8 or so days.

Think the cable was too short or had developed a fault.
