Is e-mail delivery on the internet slowing down?

Been pondering this as mail to my own account takes a while (for example when resetting a password) as does mail to my Yahoo account.

However what really made me think was at work last week, I sent a gotoassist invitation mail to a customer who was on a BT inifinity connection and using a BTInternet address as I needed to observe the problem they were having

I generated the link, opened the outlook form we have, pasted the link in and sent it.

The Exchange servers are quite quick at work but for good measure I did a send and receive.

5 minutes later, nothing at the customer's end, I ended up reading out an address for them to type into the address bar and then the code they needed to enter in the form to start the session.

Anyone else noticed a general slow down in e-mail delivery?

Not particularly! It probably depends on the servers involved.

Oh yes!!  Not just me but others too.  Mail sometimes takes hours to reach a destination just one mile away and I've had several instances of mail getting lost altogether.  My mail provider is BTinternet.
