It's all very worrying as one of my laptops will need replacing this year and I don't want to switch from Win 7.

I gather 7 will be supported in terms of security patches up to 2020.

Why all the concern about a operating system that is tipped to be really good, I note that it's the same folk who shied away from Windows 8.1 and even some who cried when XP was no longer supported. Some times change is for the best and we should embrace it or get left behind. There was a small computer shop near here would not embrace W7 or 8 and insisted that everyone stayed with XP, they are no longer in business as they went bust some time ago.  >:D

Window 10 looks like a big improvement on 8 and I imagine a fair number of Windows 7 users will be happy to upgrade after its matured a little. It's certainly better than I expected it to be. I doubt I'd upgrade to it on an existing PC but I'd certainly consider it on a new device.
