Inkjet versus laser-jet printers

Apart from the cost I am fed up with replacing cartridges frequently, at no small cost,even though O do not consider myself a large user. What are the opinins here? If replacing my,not verry old HP inkr jet what suggestions are there for a laser please?

Do you use original or compatible ink cartridges?

My Canon printer uses individual cartridges and I buy compatible ones from Prink. I know some people will only use originals but I've found the compatible ones from Prink very satisfactory and they cost much less than originals.

I use a Canon ip6700D printer but buy my cartridges from  http://www.cartridgediscount.co.uk/ this month they have a discount of an extra 15% off but they always have a discount scheme off their great prices. I find the quality of the printing superb for colour including glossy photos.
