HELP! I can't set up Homegroups on Windows 10. I set it up on my desktop and it shows the invitation on my laptop but will not accept the password and states that Homegroup can not set up on this computer.

Den, I had this problem and found this solution on the Windows 10 Forum it worked for me, go into your network adapter properties and disable Netbios over TCP/IP in your IP4 settings, see image:-

I've just tried that Ray. First I just changed it on my desktop and it did not work and then on my laptop as well but still no go. The only thought I had is that both computers are plugged into my router and not using wifi?

Shouldn't be that, Den, mine are all on a wired Network, have you tried leaving the Homegroup and then rebooting both Pcs and recreating the Homegroup? Also might be worth checking the Windows firewall and ensure Homegroup is allowed, I had a problem once with one of mine where it was being blocked, also make sure that your Network is set to 'Private',

I used to have all sorts of problems on W7. So I set all the machines on the network to have a fixed ip. That did the trick.
It seems that the default is to set it all to auto and that means that any given machine will not necessarily have an ip that the others recognise.
You also have to set the DNS server manually if you do that. It sounds a bit of a faff but its not difficult.
Control panel>network & sharing>change adapter settings
Right click on your network and select properties
Click Internet Protocol Version 4>properties>use following ip address. (First find out what its selected automatically and choose that for the fixed one, then do the same for all your machines increasing the last figure by 10 every time
Validate on exit
