Just puzzling about my recent BT speed checks, my speed readout is 2.46mbit but my profile is 2.34mbit,  does this mean my profile will eventually rise?
I have had these type of readings on a regular basis since BT put me a new master skt in three weeks ago. My speed did improve, almost double in fact, but still nowhere near the Four mbit my neighbour gets, is there any thing more I can do to improve my system?  :fingers:

Steve

It depends on whether the downstream sync and snr reported by the modem/router has enough headroom over the current profile to permit a further rise.

Thanks for your reply, are these the numbers you refer to, its all the info I can glean from my router. :eyebrow:

Steve

Those are the numbers , your downstream sync is limiting any further profile rises. The SNR is elevated at 15 which suggests you've got a noisy connection, the maximum downstream sync looking at your attenuation of 50 in ideal conditions is above 4mbits. Question is what can you do . I would suggest connecting the router to the test socket with a filter if a phone is connected and get the router stats on connection. The only thing you can do is to try and eliminate sources of noise your side of the master socket, one assumes with a new socket that it incorporates an adsl filter with separate dsl and phone inputs and that the bell or ring wire has been disconnected. Hopefully your not using any extension cables or sockets  for the router as they act as an aerial for noise input, lastly if all fails it sometimes is worth trying a different router if you've a spare.

Thanks Steve
I will try all you suggest, BT fitted a new master skt but that is all, its not a filtered ADSL plate so I still need to use in line filters, and no not using any extension just directly into master.
