An icon for WifiManager which I've never seen before has appeared in the taskbar of my Windows 7 Samsung laptop. The publisher appears to be Samsung. Should I allow it to make changes to my computer? What is it likely to do? Everything seems to be working perfectly well already. :fingers:

Difficult to advise with any certainty, Dud, but these links contain further information (I wouldn't recommend clicking any links relating to scanners, etc, on these sites):

http://www.file.net/process/wifimanager.exe.html

http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/Easy-Display-Manager-8621-program.aspx

If you're concerned as to whether it is genuine, then a scan with http://www.malwarebytes.org may be worthwhile.

I get several icons in my taskbar on my Samsung laptop. I've tried allowing some them to run and also stopping them in the services and they still persist in appearing whenever I log in. Its a pain having to close them down but the laptop still runs okay. As I usually put it in sleep mode rather than logging out and back in again they are not much of a problem and since I got a chromebook I rarely use my laptop anyway.

Maybe it's typical of Samsung as my Samsung smart TV and PVR more often than not want to download updates which don't appear to make any difference except to sometimes download apps that I don't want. They also won't let me delete them either.

Thanks Simon and john. I've Googled "Samsung WifiManager" and though I don't understand most of them the results are not entirely reassuring, one "hit" suggesting that it is "38% dangerous"  - whatever that may mean.

I really don't know what I'm doing but I've scanned with Malwarebytes (nothing found) and uninstalled Easy Display Manager which has caused the WifiManager icon to disappear and still everything seems to be working OK. I suppose that's a result!

Having done a fresh install on two of our three PCs/laptops when upgrading to Windows 10 I'm seriously considering doing a fresh instal every time I buy a new computer that has more than the absolute minimum of bloatware on it. That definitely includes Samsung and Dell.
