Amazon Emails - Beware!

This morning, I received two very authentic looking emails from "auto-shipping*@*amazon.co.uk" to two of my IDNet accounts.  I know these were not authentic as they came with attachments (which genuine Amazon emails don't), plus, I have a different (non-IDNet) email account for my Amazon purchases.

I have received similar emails to my IDNet accounts before, mostly with attachments purporting to be invoices of some description, but they have not previously appeared to come from senders I have dealings with.  The 'Amazon' emails, however, were the same sort of format.

So, just a warning - double check your Amazon emails before opening!

I get a lot of these, they often come in batches. I haven't had any spoofing Amazon but a year or two ago I had one from a small local charity we have dealings with. That one almost caught me out. I buy a lot through Amazon, especially now we're living a long way away from any major shops. I'll make a point of double checking their emails, thanks for the heads up Simon :thumb:

The problem is that they are getting better at it all the time.   :(

I've had 30 since 8am this morning!  :sigh:

Yes I've had some of these over the years, I usually spot them though because they always seem to come via email addresses I don't use for Amazon, that's a special one!

My IDNet emails seem to suffer the most.  Although it might stop the spam if I changed them, I use one for business, which would be awkward to change, and the other is my 'personal' email, which I use quite a bit, and is known to all my family and friends, so I wouldn't be keen on changing that one either.

Must be doing the rounds again as I received one today too Simon. Gets annoying after a while.

I've deleted it now, but will remember for next time, Baz.   :thumb:

Today I received two blank emails with attachments from scanner@idnet.com. I think I'll probably not open the attachments :eyebrow:

Out of curiosity I might open up the attachment on an old PC unless you fancy going first Simon ;D

Why don't you ask IDNet to open it since it purports to come from them?
