Is anyone being affected by this BT outage? :- http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/bt-working-internet-outage-fix-broadband-service-derailed-across-uk-1571552
I'm having problems on Plusnet with sites timing out and not being accessible.  :(

All seems OK here on IDNet, Ray.

My IDNet connection went down at around 2.00am last night and it looks like it wasn't the only one.

Seems to have been sorted now.  :fingers:

All ok here, but I'm on the Zen pop though IDnet which has its own disadvantages. Awful single threaded speeds being the main one. After fixing a battery fault which was only 9 volts (5 is minimum to act on) and swapping me to a new pair in the cab for (voice fault) I lost 8Mbps off my speed permanently.  :slap:

I have it the other way round: the single thread TBB test is fine, but the multi-thread test is always pathetic. Tried TBBs advice without any difference. Maybe the router treats it as some form of attack? It does seem to not like some sites and for months wouldn't allow me on to TBB main site either via PC or phones. (This site's security too intermittently treats my fixed IDNet address as a spammer, but if I use the VPN service or phones, never!). Norton 360 never reports any problem though.

IDNet (non Zen) was fine here overnight and this morning via Stepney Green PoP and Telehouse interchange.

I still use BT Internet for my e-mails and that was down all morning.  I actually have to pay them £5.40 a month to keep my addresses and it often goes down for a brief period a few times a week.

It's about time these utility and Infrastructure companies start to invest in decent back up power supplies, I've had no water since 10:15 this morning due to a power failure knocking out the booster pumps!  >:(

I don't understand why BT don't have a system whereby the rerouting is automatic.

Yep, all pretty obvious. As with backup power. But I suspect that the neglected Utilities (both under pressure from regulation and commercial pressures) have pretty marginal rates of return, and the firefighting is a choice between capacity and resilience. One brings in income, the other doesn't. When do most of us worry about the backhaul stuff (except when it goes wrong)? So we're living on the edge. Aren't we all?

Clive

My IDNet was down first thing this morning but it came back again after about an hour.  Mrs Clive was very displeased as she was expecting an important e-mail.  Breakfast was quite fraught.   :D

The technology exists, and has done for decades.
