It's what a hell of a lot of people use it for though, Gary. 

I would say that isn't the case, people have moved on it's more a source for information news support and entertainment as well. Kids have long since left Facebook and Twitter to use apps like snapchat. The views expressed feel somewhat archaic tbh, and sometimes seem to come from people that have never actually used social media, although not always of course. Also people seem to forget that if you don't tell it about yourself and use if for the fun aspects or the groups on facebook like for me disabled self help support ones. You can keep your anonymity intact. Its like seeing people saying if I browse well known websites I'll be safe as its the dodgy ones that are dangerous, that's a huge misconception too.
