I know this is no longer supported, so 2 questions. 1) Is there a good alternative? 2) When I use it , of late, after saving then restoring it restores an older version. There are email addresses that I abandoned long ago, also passwords long ago unused. What am I doing wrong? before my computer fell over and I rebuilt it everything was working fine, where are my errors?

Not so, the next time it did the same. Loading old email addresses and passwords. I though I would try Mozilla forums, however I cannot log in there as I have an aged registration, which I cannot recover.  :red:
Where can I go from here, I am heartily sick of having to reenter my password and deleting old email addresses!

I would use the above information about accessing your profile, and start a new one.  Mark that as the default profile and it should be like having a brand new installation - but bear in mind that will mean your saved email address book will not be available in the new profile and you will have to set up your email accounts as new, so you will need your account details and passwords.

Starting a new profile won't delete your data so you can switch back to an.old profile if needed.  You can even transfer the data from one profile to the other, but that's possibly best left for another day.

All the information is in the link above, Broadback.  Sorry, but I haven't time to copy and paste it all here.

No worries, but you should find all of the information in the above link, and it will be explained better than I could.
