Windows 10 May update

Well everyone the Windows 10 May Major update is here. Installed it last night on my desk top. Had to remove a usb memory stick first and all went well.

Computer running very smooth and will check it out fully over the next few days.

As a Win 10 Pro user I will delay my update for as long as possible - hopefully a year.  Updates have trashed three computers for me in the past two years.

Apart from a couple of gripes I'm now reasonably OK with 10 and I'll definitely upgrade to avoid any potential security issues.

I know I've been away awhile, and I don't use Windows at home. However, after a catastrophic server failure at work, I'm the only one with any know how, and it's my job to get things up and running. On the server (which suffered a complete HD failure - specialist recovery company could recover nothing - and no working backups, something I'm having words with the boss about), Win 10 decided to do an update last night. This morning, remote access to the sql server and, indeed, to the file server were all gone. Took me an hour to fix, and having settled on scheduled backups, it seems MS are no longer supporting backups on Win 10, which means paying for 3rd party.

And don't get me started on my sleepless nights trying to, at least, get people working again (the sql server on the network is critical. It's bad enough we have to rebuild the entire DB, without MS coming along and screwing it up).

Microsoft have announced that in future they will issue minor security updates in the Autumn and major updates in the spring (once a year/every year) starting in October.
