This has suddenly appeared on my pc! I have not asked for it, installed it, and I can't find anyway of getting rid of it! driving me mad.

Rik

It's a rogue app, Jill. You can get rid of it using PC Tools Spyware Doctor:

http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=google_th&gclid=COmK__3y_o0CFQQwlAodNlu3OQ

This app:

http://www.system-doctor-removal.com.removal-instructions.com/removesystem_doctor.html

or by following the instructions here:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic58656.html

or here:

http://www.spywaredb.com/remove-system-doctor/

It's not the easiest of things to remove, so make sure you backup first, and follow instructions carefully.

I do have Ad-Aware and Spybot, both have been unable to get rid of this!

Rik

I don't think they are up to dealing with this one, Jill. :(

Well Spy sweeper didn't find it either, most of those are pay only. Will have to use hijackthis I think  :( when I get time.

Rik

Ideally, you need to deal with this asap, Jill...

This removes it ....... http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=SUPERANTISPYWARE

and the full version would have stopped the drive by download to your machine.

Try the professional version, there is a free trial period. My boys machine was always getting soyware downloads until I put this on,never seen a problem since.

Well Spyware Doctor has found the lot! but it wants my money  ;D so will try yours first, then I will decide which I will fork out for. This spyware is a real pain, and some is well hidden, I really object to it!

Will let you know how I get on, thanks, Rik, DorsetBoy  :-*

The interesting question, Jill, is where did you get infected?

That thought crossed my mind as well, this is an almost new computer if I remember correctly.
Anything and everything that I post on here is purely my opinion, it ain't going to change the world, you are under no obligation to agree with me, it is purely my expressed opinion.

Rik

Fairly new, Inactive. Although this infection can be dealt with, I know that, if it were me, I'd want to know where I picked it up so that I could consider my future use of that site.

Jill, if you don't already use it, you might like to download the free McAfee Site Advisor.

It is a drive by download that is installed onto your machine without your knowledge or permission.

Users know nothing about it until they close their browser and find the icon on the desktop.

It is similar to Smittfraud and other variants.SuperAntiSpyware Professional version prevents the download when set to monitor the connection permanently, there are others that will do the same.

It is too late running most Malware scanners after the download.Comodo firewall set correctly would prevent any outgoing connection and warn the user.

Well as this pc is used by another, I can only guess  ;)

I have never had so many problems, on a new pc as well!

I use AVG, is McAfee better? if so will try it.

Gotta go to a christening now, hope they have some good wine  ;D

Rik

McAfee is a different thing altogether, Jill. It rates sites based on testing them and reports from users. It's not a defence, but it can give you a heads up before you have a problem.
