El Reg reports that Plusnet have started losing email again.

This problem was triggered by the company installing anti-spam software. "The Sheffield firm said it had blackholed about 10 per cent of the backlog of mail which built up yesterday daytime while its engineers worked on the appliance. The same proportion of legitimate mail between 5pm and 11pm were also wrongly earmarked and binned."

Great to know they have such effective procedures in place for testing and installing new software. :(

They are welcome to come and blackhole some of my work inbox, the emails have been coming in quicker than I can read them recently :(

They were one of my prospective ISPs, but I've heard they have gone downhill recently.

I'm not sure recently is quite the word I'd have used...  :'(

Oh, I used them on dial up for a while, and they were quite good.  They also do some good deals for very low users, and I know a couple of people on their £9.99 package that are perfectly happy.  I think the main thing people complain about is peak time sluggishness.

Rik

You should have been in here last autumn, people were complaining about most aspects of the operation then. :(

It's their latest backup strategy, allowing them to save disk space.  ;D >:D

Plusnet were good until they got to the top of the tables, then everyone joined up and they couldn't cope.. it happens all the time.. I'd hate to be with an ISP that was so good it got to the top of the table... oops..  :o

Simon

What, they are dumping the email service altogether?  Can you point me towards somewhere to verify that please, Ann, as I know at least two people who use PlusNet, and they could be potential new customers!  ;)
