My connection seems a bit strange. It connects at 3.6-4mb but the actual speed is lower than when I was on 2mb  ??? :o

On speedtests I get 188kb/sec and downloads seem slow. Where before I was downloading at 230kb/sec, it now downloads at 160kb/sec (unstable - goes from 80kb/sec to 160kb/sec).
It is a bit unstable atm I guess because of the 10day thing but it's still making me think maybe I would be better to change back to 2mb.

I'm not sure if I should go for a new router or not, atm I have tried 2 routers which have the same chipset. I have tried both safecom and origo routers. ATM I'm using an origo on Billion firmware so it supports uPNP.

I'm not sure if anyone can recommend a better router or even if a router would change the conneection throughput at all. I only really need a 1port one as ultimately I will probably have my linux firewall setup. I was looking at maybe getting a linksys.  ???

My conn:
Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin 3.5 23.0 dB
Line Attenuation 52.9 30.5 dB
Data Rate 3744 448 kbps
Latency FAST FAST

Don't panic mate give it the 10 days then start to worry if things get no better.

If you buy another router you will just be wasting money.

kb/s is bad u sure it wasnt KB/s? there is a difference of 8x if this is the case...sorry if i just insulted you by assuming you got it wrong  :)

Been reading some stuff about the ZyXel Prestige 660HW router.
Quotesupports RE ADSL (Reach-Extended ADSL) for higher speed and longer distance
not sure if that means it will be better for longer distance possibly making maxadsl sync faster or if it's just hype ???

I might stick with my current router for now, see what happens once the sync thing is done.
I found a exchange checker tool and it says my exchange only supports connections up to 5mb  :-[ connection speed seems to be going down, connected at 3.6mb now  ???
