Netgear have released version 4.01.30, available here.

The release has an updated DSL driver to improve interoperability.

But surely, like Windows, all the bugs would have been ironed out before releasing it to users?  :yeahright:

Rik

Indeed. That's exactly why I don't use 4.01.28. :)

This is the one I was not sure about Rik, so you think its for the UK now?

When I spoke to their call centre they seemed to think .28 was for the UK not .30 so i'm confused I wonder if its for the American market you see  :-\

Rik

That's their standard wording for the UK & Europe version.

Cheers for clearing that up Rik  ;D

Gary

Well I tried that firmware.....my initial sync is generally about 6528 then creeps down to about 5328 where it stays, with the .30 firmware the initial sync would not get over 6400 which makes made me unsure about it so I reverted to my previous version. Anyone else tried it?

Rik

Not me, I'm letting everyone else test it for me. :) Of course, you might find it syncs lower but then holds the speed...

I have a sneaking suspicion about this firmware Rik I called Netgear again, well India and was told its for the American market, and .28 is the latest for the uk so I'm well confused Rik, and not the only one I may add, some folks over at wilders are unsure as well and I don't trust netgear script readers, i'm going to recline and wait, my line is noisey and my fear is that this version may result in a lower profile, if its for the UK at all, I wish companies put information up with all the details, the call centre monkey said we have UK specific firmware, so who knows >:D where are my calms ;)

Hi Gary

I understand your caution. Previously, the site has referred to UK versions as not for the US, but digging back, sometimes they have referred to them as UK specific. Play safe and use v 01.20 for now, we know that one is OK.

I hate call centres!  >:(

Oh you and me both they drive me to distraction and no one really knows what's going on they just read scripts, here's the Wilders thread on that firmware. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=184835

Gary

Just got this from Netgear about the new firmware:
I understand that you want to know whether the V 4.01.30 firmware can be used in UK.

The V4.01.30 firmware is not meant for UK and NA. The firmwares for UK will be released seperately.

Again, thanks for choosing NETGEAR and we appreciate your continued patience.

I take it they didn't say where it was intended for, Gary?
