I have decided to give myself a broadband connection as a birthday present. IDNet of course! I haven't contacted Sales yet. I understand that if someone recommends me they can get a bonus of £10? Perhaps someone would like to do that?

I'm intending to get the wireless router from IDNet. Is that a good thing to do? I gather it arrives already set up which would be very acceptable.

I shall need two adsl filters Preferably the Type on a "tail" That's a dingle dangle dongle is it? can I order these from IDNet?

Recently I've had to wait while PDF stuff slooooowly downloaded on my dial- up and got a bit fed up. And it takes far too long to upload pics to photobucket. So I'm looking forward to BB.

Hi Robert

TBH, I never realised you were on dial-up. You are going to love BB - one of the first things you will appreciate is not jamming up the phone line when you want to go online. :)

I don't make referrals as I feel it would be too easy for me to abuse my position here, but if no-one contacts you, let me know by PM and I'll find you a volunteer. ;)

Ordering the router pre-configured is no bad thing, it also means that support can take a look at it remotely if they need to. Netgears generally ship with two filters, but I would recommend the ADSL Nation xf-1e at £8.99. Delivery is usually within 48 hours. I've tried several brands, but these have consistently given me the best results.

Another thing, Robert, is that you also get a £10 credit!

Haha yes dial up and broadband are light years apart.
Once you get going with broadband you'll wonder how you ever managed with dial up.
Idnet are a fantastic company who care for their customers and so their reputation is just unstoppable.
These forums are run and moderated by some fantastically helpful and knowledgable people too.
Often any niggles or problems can be solved here within a few hours of posting.
Whenever I've had to contact Idnet with anything, they've always sorted it out either there and then or rang me back.

Thank you.

I shall now go and watch England get demolished with a smile on my face. I suspect it will only last 5 minutes into the game though.  :'(

I thought England played on Wednesday and all the players have gone back to their clubs, ooops was I thinking of proper football where you use your feet as the name says?
Mr Music Man.

Well, England certainly didn't use their brains. :(

Thanks for the replies. I'm really looking forward to BB now that I have  made the decision.

I looked at the reviews of the the filter Rik recommended and I shall be ordering two.

I didn't know that a £10 credit could be coming my way. It will be most welcome to help with the setting up.

We've got a "Library Friends" fund raising Coffee Morning today, so that wipes off most of the day. Have to leave ordering etc till tomorrow. One of these things means that all my bits and pieces get picked up, hidden away, and some of it I never find again! It's all in a good cause, helps fund the prizes for my short story competition ::)

It will pay for one of the filters at least. :)

I'm still looking for stuff that got put away when we moved out for subsidence repairs - in 2003!  ;)

We'll look forward to your broadband birthday. Wasn't your meal last night, btw? Good time?
