I've just got another monitor. its the same make and model as my other flatscreen but the new one shows colours different.. all the settings match on both monitors and on the graphics card. New one is showing pale blue as white(ish) and medium dull blue's as light browns.

Any ideas what would cause this?

both monitors are connected with a dvi to vga connectors.. Could it be the one for the new monitor is not converting correctly?

Try swapping the cables, Paul, but only at the monitor end. If the problem doesn't switch, then it's a faulty monitor, if it does, then try a replacement cable, if that doesn't cure it, it's likely to be the graphics card.

Do you have Photoshop? If so, the other thing you could try is Adobe Gamma to do a visual calibration of the monitor, or you could buy a Pantone Huey to do a hardware calibration. However, I'd look for a fault first.

i changed the the leads over and the problem stays on the new monitor. so i guess its a fault with the new monitor?

Cant be graphics card.
I have a Geforce 7950 GT 512mb, 2 DVI.

I put the lead from the monitor that shows correct colours into the new monitor and the colour problem was still there on the new monitor.

Before:
GPU 1st Monitor port > 1st monitor (old one, no colour problems)
GPU 2nd Monitor port > 2nd monitor (new one, colour problems)

After:
GPU 1st Monitor port > 2nd monitor (new one, colour problems)
GPU 2nd Monitor port > 1st monitor (old one, no colour problems)

Lance

Ok I agree! Must be the monitor :(

That's what I asked you to do the swap for, Paul. It has to be a faulty monitor. :(

Some manufacturers use diferent tablets (the Screen bit inside) on the same make of screen at diferent times.  So if they are from diferent batches the could look diferent.  Also screens britness faids over time.

Is it illiarma or samsung They have both changed their supplier of tablets in the last year.

its an LG.

But blue shouldnt show as brown ? lol

Rik

Just had a thought. Brown is green/red, it's almost as if the monitor is inverting the colour feed...
