Update, last week my Netgear 834G v2 router was connecting at 2416, the 2wire has re-sync'd over night from 2846 to;

Mine is the Dual SSID 2700HGV it has the v5.29.107.19 firmware I think, but I can't confirm until I get home around 4.30

I just changed the faceplate and got a better lead and synch has gone up from 77 something to 8096 so that was worth doing.. now I'm waiting for my data rate to go up a notch.  I saw here that someone just said that it isn't worth doing but I'd say it's worth a try.

Sam, I think you will need to ask the sellers what version they are using, I believe that you would want V4.25.x firmware, but best wait for one of the more experienced 2wire owners to confirm that.

Im looking into how much he/she charges. Is there an actual reason for the limit on wireless power?

I dont want to give my neighbourhood brain tumours and wake up glowing green etc.

The power is limited (on the UK units) to 100mw (?) which is the maximum UK allowed power. I think using the other firmware, it can be increased to 400mw.

Why have a limit... well first off it probably saves some networks conflicting ie if you have a densely populated area such as a block of flats, all the networks will be fighting for the same space.

Secondly, as you say, there *may* be a health issue, but when you consider all the radiowaves generated by the BBC I don't think it's going to be a great risk. However, don't hold me to that and I'm not responsible for any health or any other issues which occur as a result of upping the power!

I'd be surprised if anyone on my road had wireless...so that aint an issue. I could i spose only up the power if needed so i dont have any excess power :p

That would be the best idea! I've found the range at standard power to be a bit better than my old linksys router anyway - so you may not need to up it by much.

My IP profile has risen over the past 2 days from 1750kbs to 2000kbs, hopefully looking at its connection speed it should settle at 2500kbs, I'll be a very happy chappie if it does

Great news Glenn, you have gained a small speed increase already with the newish BRAS profile increments going over 1750.

The SBC software does allow you to use the max 10 level for wireless not just the limited 4 power level on other versions, however I have yet to test the improvement because in my old lath and plaster cob walled house I get good wireless already at level 4....................... AND for those who have the Netgear rangmax blue flashing PM model that supposedly kicks re wireless range, forget it, I have had one and it was pants compared to the 2700 at level 4. I could not get the Netgeat to go from my study to the kitchen..............barely 30 ft

I know I am a 2700 fanboy nerd but when you have suffered as I have with a poor line and BT and tried every "cure all" DMT tweaked and not router out there it was a blessing to stumble up the 2700 and IDNET.

Rock solid connections, great wireless and looks good on your desk too !!
