Is Hyper a good brand of psu manufacturer?

I have one of these in mine , mainly because of the "Dual 12V outputs, for stability and safety"  - http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=22481

Hyper 580's are good, I've got 1 as well :)

Nice spec mrapoc, I'm in the market for a new rig myself but cant stretch to a Conroe just yet ::)

Hey, I have that exact PSU, and id sware by it - best ive bought :)

Rest of the rig is nice to! Minus the intel, but thats cus im biased lol

for the record, my system is: AMD 64 4000+, 2GB Geil dual channel, Hiper type-r 580, X1800XT 512, 1 80gb ide and 1 80bg sata - the PSU keeps all this going at a stable rate, especially on the +12v, so your system would be fine with this psu - even tho it might take up around 10-15% more power :)

no problems at all?
is it easy to keep the cables tidy or sould i get modular?

AvengerUK

it is modular...(modular means u just plug in what u need right?!)

CatMangler

mrapoc have you got it all yet, is it built?

mrapoc

no ive decided to wait for more motherboards to come out - every1 thats out atm has a flaw and i want a overall winner  8)

btw the e6600 beats the FX 62 on quite a lot of benchies

AvengerUK

Yea but its intel...dont fund the evil empires!

(Intel, Microsoft & apple)

mrapoc

lol but you gotta give them praise - 6 years of being beaten and finally they have produced a gamers cpu

AvengerUK

True...but it did take tham 6 years....lol

CatMangler

The conroe's do look pretty cool tho, from my browsing I note that you can get an E6300 to overclock to almost the same speeds as an E6800  :o

What do you guys think of this spec:

E6300
Gigabyte DS3
G.Skill HZ PC-6400
Not decided yet but prolly a 7900GT

Thoughts?

AvengerUK

Anything but a 7900GT - the chips on the whole are flawed in many many ways, research it @ http://forums.guru3d.com

mrapoc

im dropping down to a 7600gt until the dx10 come out...no point getting a top of the range gfx card if ur gonna upgrade soon

CatMangler

Hmm as mrapoc says I'm also considering dropping my order to a ATI Radeon X1800 XT until the new cards are out, whenever that is.

This is a bit OT given we're in 'kick-ass' territory but I've had innumerable boxes cluttering up my study for years now in varying states of build/rebuild/assimilation etc etc

They've variously run my website/email/ftp server and game server for when we nerds managed to get together for Lan's. I've finally bitten the bullet and am going for a desktop replacement notebook...this one infact.

I've doubled the ram and put in the faster 100gb discs but other than that it's going to (hopefully) be a 'do-it-all' machine that's not whirring away like mental ! But the main attraction has been the CPU's lower TDP than the Athlons and twin GPU's....mmmmm polygons   Being built as we speak - can't wait to boot 'er !

Thoughts ?

Ive just got a X1800XT - truth is direct x 10 is a long long way away! - Even when its released the cards will be non-exsistant/expensive (500+) and buggy :/

CatMangler

How are you finding the performance?

Are you happy or are you slightly miffed that you didnt shell out the extra for a X1900?

mrapoc

well ive been told the 7600gt will run all games of today on full without a problem - at my resolution of 1024 x 768 so until dx10 coems out im ok

its a great card :) - 9110 3dmark05's on stock. However, im extremely annoyed about it....as a X1900XT @ overclockers.co.uk was on special offer the next day...for £10 more :(

mrapoc

do not buy from ocuk!!!! if they sell you a cardboard cut out representative of the card do not come crying to me when they wont rma it  :P

AvengerUK

Overclockers.co.uk are we talking about? if so, i buy from them because any problems that arise i just walk into their 'shop' :)

Admittedly, OCUK did used to have quite frankly appalling customer service (never picked up phone, rude and unhelpful support emails, awful RMA policy etc), however they have made efforts to improve this now and their service is now about on par with average levels, though obvously still far short of exemplary companies like overclock.co.uk (not to be confused with OCUK) etc.

I've started using them again now and so far no complaints... then again I haven't needed to RMA anything yet. :)

o so u live near stoke on trent?

I do indeed, which puts Overclockers, Micro direct, Aria & Scan all within reach. No postage costs for meee :)

I find OCUK fine for customer service.

You order a new piece of kit, it doesn work or doesnt perform the way you expect. You can just ring them up and return it for a full refund.

Well thats my experience so far...
