Hi Gallo,

First things first, have changed the connection user name and password to that given to you by IDNet, and if you have a router, have you reconnected with the new details?

QuoteMy old Pipex password still works.

Are you saying that you are still connected with Pipex?

If in despair, you can leave a message on the support phone number, which they may pick up over the weekend, or drop them an email.  They are usually quite good like that.

Thanks Si6776 for the reply,

Yes I've tried changing user name and password, that's when I get error 691.

I dont have a router, just the broadband modem, there's only 1 pc connected up.

And yes I'm still connected to pipex when I use their passwords, I have emailed IDNET, so no doubt I'll hear from them soon.

Thanks again for the help

Simon

Well, if you're still connecting to Pipex, it would seem you haven't been migrated yet.  Not being funny, and sorry to ask the bleeding obvious, but are you sure you have the correct migration date?  If you want to check the date IDNet have, it should show up if you log into your IDNet account.  If you were supposed to migrate today, it should have been by 6pm, so the only thing you can do is leave a message on the IDNet support number.  They will be about tomorrow, as they are working on one of the email servers, so hopefully Simon or Tim will pick up your message.

Not forgetting of course, the date is as expected by BT. Should BT for some reason fail to migrate the service on the given day, it probably means they are a bit busy!

Best thing to do is wait and hear from support, who can chase BT, and see what they say. You may well find that your service migrates over on Monday.

As others have said, it may be that, if your Pipex password still works, BT haven't completed the migration (though it is possible for both services to be accessible for a while). Have you had an email from IDNet telling you that the migration has been completed?

Can you log in to your customer account page on the IDNet website? If you can, are you using the same username and password with your modem, is that when you get the error? If so, I'd guess that BT haven't finished the job.

Obviously, it's difficult to ask you too many questions, since your login details shouldn't be revealed in the forum. However, if you email support@idnet.net, hopefully someone will pick it up over the weekend and be able to check for you.

Thanks for the replys.

Didnt know about the IDNet account, but have looked at it now, yes I have the correct log in details, there is no date in there, but I am being billed from the 5th Oct which will be taken on the 16th Oct.

The date to start I have on my email is the 12th, I wasnt sure how migration worked, or that BT were involved, but I understand more now.

Obviously the problem is BT.

I'll wait till next week, Thanks again.

Noreen

When I migrated to IDNet I received an email (early morning) from them saying that the migration was complete however I couldn't connect to them until much later in the day, appears that BT hadn't finally completed their bit. Obviously your situation is worse but it may be the a similar cause, luckily I migrated on Monday (I think) not the end of the week.

Others can probably confirm or deny this but I believe that I read somewhere that Support will arrange to ring you after office hours if you can't speak to them in office hours.

That will probably be your sign-up date. Most, if not all ISPs charge from then, rather than the actual connection date.

It does sound like BT haven't finished the job, but it would be worth trying it periodically today.

As Noreen says, IDNet will arrange an out of hours call.

I had a delay of a period of a few hours where I was on Max (was not on previous isp) and could still use my previous ISP,s login name and password, I was migrated on a Friday, but I had to do a router reset to get myself working as later that afternoon I could not browse and I was not picking up my IP address and IDNets DNS servers, not sure about using a modem, you could try un-installing the modem and reinstalling it again, was the Modem provided by Pipex? But as Rik says IDNet will be able to arrange help :)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Just so IDNet dont think so, I'm not compaining about the charge, just letting people know what I read. (I dont mind any charge - except to pipex - to get away from them!).

Re the modem. no I'm not using pipex's (surprise surprise it broke after a few months - kept droping the line and wouldnt redial) - I'm using  a Fujisti one I got a couple of years ago.

Not surprised about the Modem  ::), maybe at some point it would be worth investing in a Router, IDNet do pre configured ones and they really are much safer to use, pretty much set and forget, once you get this hiccup sorted as I'm sure some others will agree. :)

Routers are always the best choice, imo, regardless of whether it's for one PC or multiples. Lower drain on CPU time and, usually, power, with the added protection of a NAT/SPI firewall and, generally, a more stable connection.

I intend to do that, as I need to get my daughters pc connected for school.

But having just bought a new PC and with xmas coming up, it'll have to wait a little while.

Stevescat

Couldn't agree more about going down the Router route. Built-in firewall, always connected, option of wireless, mine's been connected for months - rock solid!

Welcome Gallo.  When you finally get connected your are in for a surpise.  Idnet and Idnetters work well together.  Just try to excuse Rik and others for their strange sense of humour ;D  They can't really help it, something to do with age I think. ;D >:D :hide: :out:

Where does the router route lead?  Sounds like a song. ;D

Very much a Fifties novelty song, Alf. You can just imagine Billy Cotton doing it. :)

I have been informed that by 6pm tonight, I will be a real menber of your party, instead of just an imposter!

Everything crossed for when I get home.

Rik

Likewise - I'll cross everything for you. Of course, my typing may suffer a bit... ;)
