Thats the trouble with these rating and voting systems.  It encourages more people to join, makes the ISP more ripe for plucking, and ruins the service for everyone. aka F2s and Metronet.
Im my opinion we should keep a good thing quiet instead of boasting about it to all and sundry and attracting all the dross.

Andrew

Glad to know i am not the only selfish b*****d arround!
We should all sign a confidentiallity form when we join up  :D
How about a £10 fine for recomending new users  ;D ;D

James

Hi.

The following ratings for IDNet have been removed from the ISP Ratings as they are forged ratings which we do not tolerate by any user(s).

The forged ratings are below, along with the IP addresses etc.

As you can see, someone (or serveral people) have been using proxies from all over.

Let me know if you have any information.

Interesting but sad to see. Maybe there will be an explanation?

Simon_idnet

James @ DSL Zone now knows the definitive range of our IP space (212.69.32.0/19) and has updated his address tables accordingly.
Simon

I suggested to DSL Zone about a month ago that they include IDnet. As a fairly non-techie can someone please explain, simply, (James and/or Simon?) whether the DSL Zone ratings that have been removed were or were not IDnet related. In other words were they a deliberate attempt to boost IDnet or a malicious attempt to cause trouble?

I believe that my last ISP was removed from ISP Review for trying to boost its ratings.

Simon_idnet

The submissions made via proxies were crude though probably well-intentioned but as they cannot be directly attributed to legitmate IDNet IP addresses DSL Zone has rightly removed them.
Simon

kempez

This is annoying as I rated IDNET due to their great service  >:(

Are the rating that were made by IDNET customers going to go back up?

Adam

kempez, from what I understand only forged ratings have been removed.

However, I would like to add here;

Great company and nice people.

^ That review is from a legitmate IDNet IP address, as proven by RIPE records. It also has an IDNet assigned reverse DNS. I fail to see how this could of been submited by anyone other than IDNet or someone permitted to be using "simon-gw.idnet.net".

I have nothing against IDNet here, and I am not trying to discredit them. However nothing and nobody is perfect, IDNet is just another ISP. Their simple aim at the end of the day is to make a profit, along side many other aims.

I'm well aware a few people have had a near perfect experiance with IDNet, but would I say it's anything different from the early PIPEX days for example? No.

That is blantantly and obviously me casting my vote, which a fundamental precept of any voting system is it not?

Fair enough. But it would be better to note you are a member of the company. Otherwise it looks like an attempt of self-promotion.

IDNet would appear to have been removed from the ratings completely.

Looking at, http://dslzoneuk.co.uk/isp_ratings.php# , I can see IDNet under "Sub ratings (ISP's that have under 25 votes) . . .", with 16 customer reviews listed...

Ooops! Could have sworn I saw it listed on the pillar graph over the last few days.
Cracking up in my dotage. ;D

Bill

Speaking as an ex-MetroNetter, it's interesting to look at the comments for them pre- and post- November 28th...

Boy am I glad I quit when I did!

They were yesterday morning, above Zen, hence my start of this topic! Then the offending comments were removed by DSL Zone pushing them into the 'less than 25 comments' section.

I see that IDnet now have 22 legitimate comments - another 3 and they will go into the main list (and probably be top). This forum has 43 members, wake up at the back ......

Looks like there is a BT Central Plus (86.128.117.***) and a Tiscali UK (88.105.241.***) IP in there. Hopefully they are legit and won't be removed.

Dont say you were't warned.  This will end in tears.

Jeff

There are other voted for ISPs from non-that particular ISP IP addresses ... does that make sense? :)

Goggo

We have 52 forum members so I guess that IDnet has 100+ private customers - so why only 28 votes on DSLZone? I suppose that the majority, the satisfied ones, don't do anything!

Goggo

I see there are a couple of comments slagging off IDnet now.

Jeff

Can`t keep all of the people happy all of the time ;) Unfortunately for IDNet, or any other ISP for that matter, if there is a problem at the exchange or whatever ie out of the ISPs hands, the bloke we pays our monies to gets it in the neck ;)

We had a spate of people slagging IDNet off after they introduced the 30gig cap for any reason other than the fact that IDNet had brought a cap in. Doesn`t take a rocket scientist now, does it ;)

I think they`re cool :)

Me too Jeff..!??! Thought I would share this with the group...My name's Scott and I'm an..no ! no ! damn  ! wrong day...this is Friday night.

I got an email today from Simon...
Quote
"what with one thing and another your payment has been taken late..ie today ! Your (my) next payment will be being taken on the date you joined in the month (for me the 3rd of every month). Thought I'd better let you know cause you'll see two payments quite close to each other, sorry about that. "

See...! see ?!?!? THIS is exactly the kind of CS I am willing to pay slightly (I AM Scots !) over the odds for !?!?  ;D ;D

Shame they can't get an 11 / 10 on AG forum ratings...they continue to impress me with their attention to detail and Customer Focus.

High fives all round...

Thing is with IDNet, you really need to experience them first. I`ll be blunt, the main website doesn`t inspire me at all, think it needs a wee bit more eye candy. I wonder how many prospects visit, see the site then click the back button. The prospect of no free webspace for some folk may be offputting too but if this is what IDNet deem unimportant when weighed up against a rock solid connection, first class Customer Support (free too) and a top notch independant bulletin board ;) then so be it :)
