I'm seeing long (20-30 minute) delays between someone sending me an email and it arriving in my inbox, normally it's pretty much immediate.

Is it just me, or is something going on?

I've seen some delays, Bill, but it's not consistent and I haven't been able to find a pattern. I do know Martin has been tuning the system today, so there may have been some short outages (POP was down for about five minutes at noon, for example).

OK cheers, as long as it's not at my end I'll wait for it to get fixed  ;)

Yeah I noticed that, but it came back before I could get a complaint in  :P

I've got a test running at the moment. I've sent a mail from my 1&1 hosted domain to my idnet.com address, copied to my domain, and another from my idnet.com address. So far, domain to domain 15 seconds, nothing else has arrived (5 minutes)

I was faster.

I think they've probably highlighted my number on their caller display, Mo. :)

I have certainly noticed a delay in PM notifications, most of which arrive all at once long after I have read and replied to the PM.

I have a weird problem where mail is coming in marked at a different time or something so it appears lower down in my time/date descending list. :/

From what I can see, Simon, forum notifications are taking 30-35 minutes to arrive.

Is it just backlog being cleared, Sam? Have you taken a look at the headers to see what clues there might be?

Well, my experiment ended with 1&1 to 1&1 taking 15 second, but 1&1 to idnet.com and idnet.com to idnet.com/1&1 taking 43 minutes, while forum notifications have been taking 42 minutes. I've sent the data to support.

Just to clarify, this was happening before the events of last weekend, not as a result of it.

Rik

No, I believe it's an issue following the server problems.

Well, it was happening before as well, as I think I did mention at some point.  :)

I'd not noticed a problem, or at least a consistent problem, Simon. There's always some propagation delay - I don't know, for example, how rapidly the forum software sends out the alerts.

Yes, could have been that, Rik.  By the by really.  It's doing it now, and that's what counts.  :)

My email is polling the server really slowly at the moment guess its more of the ongoing issues from the weekend :(
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Sorry for the performance problems. Clunker isn't as powerful as Trevor. Once we get that main mail server back into the fray then performance should be back to normal. We hope to make some progress tomorrow.

Cheers
Simon

Bill

OK Simon, thanks for the update.
