New to IDNet - Going live Monday next week. Need router. Any ideas?

Subject line says it all!

Im not that techy (at all), so would quite like something that I can almost just plug in and get going.

I have come across this site

that has good value second hand kit that i would for vfm reasons like to buy from.

Can anyone recommend something from this site - or maybe something else if worth it?

Sadly they don't have any Netgear DG834Gs at the moment. This router has the advanatge of being very easy to set up, and also is the model supplied by IDNet, so getting support would be easy. DSL Source, the sister company would be able to help you with a full-price Netgear, or you could buy from IDNet and have it pre-set for your account.

Otherwise, a Speedtouch would be a good choice.

The speedtouch 580 seems a good first choice.  It looks easy to setup and start using.

If you're an eBayer, there's plenty of Netgear DG834Gs available at the moment, new and used.  I got mine off there, new, for £25, and can confirm, it's very easy to set up.  Well, if I can do it, it must be!

Just purchased the v3 Netgear DG834G off ebay. Hoepfully as idiot proof and reliable positive.

Don't hesitate to ask if you get stuck. One tip. Ignore the setup CD. Instead, just go to the router interface via your browser (http://192.168.0.1), and do the setup from there. It should detect the line settings automatically, leave ti to pick up IP address and DNS automatically, enter your IDNet username and password, and you should be good to go.

If it's a wireless version, make sure you chose WPA or WPA2 encryption, and use a long and complex key, up to 63 characters, bot not less than 20. Do change the SSID from the default Netgear, and do change the default password.

I trialled that router for a bit - It was definately easy to setup although isnt really a power user's dream



I have a speedtouch 580 atm and that too is easy to setup - it seems to be dying mind you
