what I was trying to say is its not the PING thats effecting the game the ping is only highlighting a potential network bottleneck/congestion/ fill in the gap/possible faulty card.
by finding the most responsive route through a network it will enable you to have a better game to the chosen server.

I get what you mean, but because ping is used to fault find, it is seen as being an indication of connection problems.

So ping isn't actually the cause of the problem but it is the indicator of a problem. Without ping how would you communicate that there's a problem?

I have never tried counterstrike
but have just come off from BF2 in disgust at the lag
