Pointing an ANAME at your IP.

Is it the 'done thing' to point an Aname record at your static IP address?  I've played around with Apache and Perl in the past and previously had various sites hosted on a computer in my bedroom 

I know ADSL isn't the best option for hosting (due to the tiny upload width), but for REALLY LOW traffic sites it doesn't really matter.  Is there anything in the IDNet t&cs preventing such things?

Not that i am aware of. As far as i know, as long as it is legal you can do it! A quick email or call to support will confirm it.

If you don't use scripting you could always use your free idnet webspace!

Now another:  Bat> Do you have seperate IPs for each, or are you doing 'Virtual Servers'?  Is there any benefit in paying for extra IP addresses if you don't have much traffic?

There is little benefit to having an IP per site; even most large hosts use virtual servers. It would make sense for your hosting server to have a different IP from your router though (no NAT).

I've got everything on one IP address. I just route port 80 through to the server. I'm running server 2003 / ISS and Front Page.

Surely, that's not right.  Keeping a poor computer imprisoned in a garage.  What does it do for company, food, recreation etc?
