Ok....I know why speed is low....my SNR has dropped from 26 to 5.5  :o
Nothing my end has changed since yesterday......so why the big drop ???

Jeff

Yes! Synced at 6528kbps :)

Speedtest disappointing though :(

Just found this on Adslguide -:
http://aaisp.blogspot.com/2006/04/initial-rate-cap-on-max-lines.html

Apparently I am synced at 8128kbps  :o

Jeff

Ah OK but I`m not touching anything! I`m scared that I re-sync at 512! :D

Xbandito

kuja

Yup,

ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed    8128 kbps    448 kbps
Line Attenuation    34 db    11.5 db
Noise Margin    7 db    21 db

Capped at 2mbit still just like everyone else I think! ;)

It is BT we are talking about...   ::)

I rebooted the router about an hour ago, and I'm getting 5.5mbit speeds :)

Xbandito

sobranie

I've rebooted 2 or 3 times but no luck yet.
Haven't tried booting the cat yet but 'tis on the cards [grin]

Jeff

Rebooted but no difference in throughput, however, synching at 6848 now :)

all right for some  ;)

hehe yeah, though  i must admit im not getting stable speeds..keeps going up and down....its been the same with 2mbit for the past 3/4 weeks  :-\

Jeff

There are going to be some bizarre speeds with Max. Ppl need to realise that sync speed and throughput can be entirely different ;)

yeah no doubt, but i've been having the same with 2mbit recently (speeds down to 70-80kbps)..could it be down to contention?

Jeff

Yes, most definately exchange contention. I`ve been suffering it for months :(

Jeff

Well, rebooted and now synching at 7008kbps! Downloading at 750kb/sec atm ... sweet :)

Switched off router for 15 mins = nothing
updated firmware = nothing

sync at 7808  d/l speed of 240kbps  :(

Well, I was starting to think that but patience man ... good sync. speed btw ;)

Xbandito

patience is running thin  ;)

My internet is all over the place.....250kbps then five mins later 80kbps   :(

It's network congestion caused by everybody running speed tests.... :P

Hmm I've just noticed that my router doesn't have SNR....been looking at DS Noise margin all the time :/

Is SNR the same as DS Noise margin, if not how can I find out what my SNR is?

Xbandito

Kuja, are you able to "telnet" into your router ?
