just got it, and i need confirmation, is it VC Mux routed i choose? Also the 'thing' only syncs at 7424 whereas my linksys gets the full 8484. I've noticed the SNR downstream is up to 15dB can i not force it to resync at a higher rate? if not then this thing is sh*t.

Welcome the the forum, have a karma. :)

All UK services are VC-Mux. Sync speed is determined by a number of issues, including time of day and chipset at each end of the connection, ie router and DSLAM.

However, from what you say, you are not getting the maximum 8192 sync due to your noise margin having been raised. The BT software does this in response to what it sees as line instability - more than 10 disconnections in an hour. Were you making repeated attempts to force a higher sync speed?

The only way to get the noise margin down is to maintain a stable connection for a couple of weeks, it will then drop by 3db, repeating until it reaches the lowest figure it can without losing stability, or 6db.

Hi Paul
Have a look at the earlier thread "2wire 2700HGV anyone using one?" it contains all the info you need to set up the 2700hgv.
Did mine today, took a couple of goes to get it just right but is now running perfectly.
I've read that they are the doggies dangly bits, thought i'd get one and see.
Seems pretty good at the moment, appears to sync higher, although mine does fluctuate. Wireless range also appears to be good.
I'll try it for a while and compare it to the 834g.

cheers

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

From my experience the 2700 performs averagely on a 'good' line. I noticed no big difference in sync rates between a dg834g v2 and v3 or a dg834gt or even a linksys wag54gs (I have too many pieces of junk lying around now a days).

However.... Moving the 2700 to a bad line (59dB attenuation) and the sync rate increased from 1.4mbit to 2mbit. I'm quite chuffed with the increase and also rather suprised a router could perform 'that' much better.

So if you found that - what would be a good router for a "good" line. I'm synched at 8125/w.e it is

Get disconnects and stuff tho:(

My line is poor too, 59- 60dB and a 5km from the exchange, before I switched to the 2700 I was on a 1750kbs profile, over the next couple of months that has improved to a 3000bks profile. I am very happy with the router.

My line is 28dB syncing at 8128 with a margin of 12-14dB. I've found the DG834GT with the DGTeam 743 firmware is fantastic. Its available @ http://www.emulesecurity.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1240. The page is in italian but the firmware is entirely english. The firmware also lets you tweak stuff like target margin etc.
