Bought one of these a week ago just to try as i'd read they were good.
I have to say that my sync speeds shown in the router and download rates have both increased. I use the Namesco tester.
For the past week i've been syncing at 7xxx which i have never done before and for the first time ever i downloaded at 6089kbps, usually 4xxx to 5xxx.
So its IDNET+2wire 2700HGV = WOO HOO!!  I think that officially makes me a convert ;D

That's very kind of you, Ted. I may have other avenues opening shortly, but if not, I'd be very happy to take you up on your offer. :)

How does one go about getting one of these switched from BT to IDNet?

Lance

This site provides a fair bit of useful information, Simon.

Basically, if you have one of the older hardware models (not dual SSID) you can simply put an entry in the routers DNS settings which stops it 'phoning home'. If you have a new hardware model, you can either follow the very good guide on editing the code with Opera, or I think you can run the set-up wizard.

Was thinking of router change but having read through the mentioned site forum I'll just stick to simple old quantum physics. ;D ;D

James Burke predicted, in a documentary series in the late 70s, that the world was moving towards a time when no one person could know about everything, we would need specialists to deal with issues in most areas. Renaissance man is dead!

Yep, it's a lot easier with the router screen in front of you than it looks, I managed to do it so it must be easy ;)

Not at the moment, It seems the original PC parts have cursed the new parts, so far I had to RMA the graphics card, memory, and now the motherboard  >:(

What a drag. Any idea of the cause?

Glenn

First the graphics card would only spin up its cooling fan intermittently, before failing totally - still waiting for the replacement, no one seems to have any 8800GT 512mb cards in stock.

Second with another graphics card fitted, the windows install kept failing, I changed the HDU and that sorted the problem.

Third, the PC would randomly reboot, I ran Memtest86 for 24hrs it showed about 120 error's I RMA's that and got a replacement in 4 days

Forth, through out the above if the PC was switched off over night, the CMOS would need resetting before it would boot, so now the motherboard is going back too.

31 days without a retrain on the line speed. To say that I'm impressed is an understatement, my DG834G v2 would drop connections every 5 - 10 days. If anyone has a poor line I would not have any hesitation in recommending the 2700HGV.

My good ol' netgear has been up for 31 days.. I'm now looking at that 72 day record but it seems a long way away..

Ann

Ack.. why did I say that.. just looked and it says 7 hours uptime.. so just about the time I was at work talking about it, it was blipping.  Maybe it thought I was taking it for granted.

Rik

Routers are like that, Ann. My Netgear became very well behaved when it heard I was going to get a 2700. :)
