Router for a "decent" line

The 2700HGV did interest me for a while until it dawned on me -

I'm @    448 / 8,128 sync

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:   12.0 / 19.5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:   13.0 / 25.0

It does drop connection alot (online gaming - it will disconnect me at least twice a night)

On that sync with a line margin of 25, it would take a massive amount of noise to upset the connection.

If you go to to here, you can see a list of all your disconnects since last reboot. If you scroll right the is a column "Exit code" which tries to tell you why it was disconnected. You can see in the "MGN2" column what the noise margin was when it dropped the connection.

cr*p i phrased my post pretty bad I meant -

My it did interest me until i realised my speedtouch 580 has these stats and keeps disconnecting

I did try the 2700 (b4 i sent it back) and obv... its not going to improve my sync and it wasnt exactly feature full although the wireless was nice

It is a good 3 years old i think (and i have a hinckering it was second hand when i bought it)

After a replacement to hold the line well, good wireless, good interface and reliable - QoS sounds pretty appealing too

The 2700HGV ticks all the boxes except QoS. In addition, while it supports IGMP (for multicast), on my BT firmware, it is disabled by default. I'm trying to find out at the moment whether it is enabled in later versions of firmware, or in the SBC version (some generic version) of the firmware.

FOr recieving multicast content from the BBC (tv and radio). It is of a higher quality the unicast, the normal standard.

However, if you don't use it, you won't miss it!

Make sure if you ask a dealer, you specify is IGMP enabled in the firmware - as the hardware certainly supports its.

Mine is a dual ssid version from fleabay, Brand new, security sealed for £19 including postage (special delivery) can't use the SBC firmware on it though. DNS poison seems to work well, although it did update the firmware, automatically, with no adverse affects
