Same on my SBC firmware, Lance. Like Kaiser, I also had some strange issues with wireless channels until I'd been through the router and changed it from MTU 1492 and PPPoE, to 1500/PPPoA.

I appreciate that the LED only lights when the connection is there....but it wasnt - no broadcast at all detected by my network manager - then the factory reset and bingo!.... I'm using the router to write this, with a speedtest.net at 1480....in fact its just gone up again to 1518/325 ....I know thats peanuts for many of you, but out here in the boondocks, its a miracle!  - my near neighbour struggles at 256k

ReDGryphoN

Thats a good rate ! I live in the dark outlands too

My ONLY neighbour get 512K !! and he wont let me help him get more. I had 512K from BT and thats all it still says I can get.

I am rock solid at 2048 and get 1750 profile..... thanks to IDNET and the 2700

A winning combination.

BLOW ME!!!

its just jumped another 100k !!!!        :o

Red..... if I get 2048, I'd be stunned.... its just gradually creeping up & up ~ I'm like you, I could only get 512 from Virgin on 8mbMax ~ I dont want to crow too early, but your comment is well justified!!   --- I was pleased as punch with the performance of the 834g, but so far this is stratospheric in comparison

as an aside, I fidled with the wireless power... I get a 'fair' connection at 4 - I boosted it all the way to 10 for a try, & the reception only improved by one bar on the chart - so I knocked it down again - (I had thought if I bumped up to 6 it would make a massive difference, but not so)
heres me with things to do, & I'm glued to speedtest

Bill,

Well my attn is 58.5dB and I can make 2048 comfortably at a Noise margin of 12.

Best of my other 5 routers (DMT tweaked and not) was just over 1 meg.....................and then it would fall over 4 times a day..........

The 2700 just sits there, end of. 71 days is my record connection period and I only powered if off cos I was away for a long weekend.

Whaterver the 2700 does it does very well indeed

My attn shows as 60.2db on the stats page, the noise margin is set at 9db by BT.

Currently my 2700 is connecting at 3456 with a 3000 profile, my Netgear 834 was on a 1750 profile. Like you I have not done a thing to the router, it has not reset or re-trained in 45 days so far.

My us Robotics 1906 (2.5years old) shows an
Att 49
snr 11.4
attainable rate 4176
actual rate 3648

This has been like this for the past 40 days since my last reboot, it never varies and seems very stable.  I am 2.7 Km away from the exchange.
Would I ba able to improve on this if I got  a 2wire?

Alf :)

Glenn

Alf, I'm approx 5km from the exchange and it improved things for me

Hi Alf, I'm 3.6k from the exchange, with an attenuation of 56db (thin aluminium) and I gained 400k. If you can try one, it would be well worthwhile based on my experience and others here. As with anything ADSL, no guarantees, but I think you'll see an improvement.
