A couple of questions:

Does IDNet support VPN in all its packages?

In IDNet-land, do such things still exist as a fixed 2MB connection for folk like me who have a nice stable and fast connection and yet live 6kms from the exchange?

Thanks for your time.

Simon

Hi Lodge,  :welc: and have a welcome karma!  :)

I'm afraid I can't answer your questions, but someone will be along later who can.

P.S. Do I know you from somewhere?  Check my sig.  ;)

Simon.

Welcome to the forum.

Because idnet do not block or restrict any ports, vpn should work fine. There is indeed several member here who use it.

In answer to your second question, yes you can still get a 2mb fixed line!

I'm connecting to work on a full Juniper VPN from the works laptop while I'm sat here. Works perfectly and hasn't fallen once in two weeks. That's on 4.5MB BRAS Home Max.

While that's happening, SWMBO is "listening again" on the laptop and I'm reading the forum on my desktop.

BUlletproof. This was not remotely possible via either 186K or Eclipse.

Sure, any time you want your VPN advised just call!

Always happy to help but you might find that I'm better using them than making them!

Wow, juniper... haven't heard anyone in this country refer to them. I have cisco software based vpn client and it works great, as does pptp.

I used to have problems with VPN on plusnet but they were adament it wasn't port throttling. lies!!
