Restricting video news items from bbc.news.co.uk?

After I switched to idnet, I can no longer watch videos from news.bbc.co.uk.  I can still listen to the news though.  However, if I make a VPN connection to my work, I *do* get the video streaming.

Why is this content blocked by idnet?

Hi Steve, have a karma as a welcome to the forum!

In answer to your question, it isn't. In fact, IDNet are peered with the BBC for the multicast content.

I would suggest that you reinstall realplayer to see if that helps?

Hi Lance, and thanks for my first Kharma!

If I'm connected to my work over a VPN (through IDNet), it all works ok.  I therefore deduce my software is working ok.

If I'm just connected to IDNet (same connection), any video content served from news.bbc.co.uk doesn't even begin buffering (audio is ok).  It's the same whether I use IE/Firefox, WMP/RealPlayer.

It's also strange that before I migrated from Zen, it was working ok - it stopped working after I migrated.

If you're absolutely positive nothing is being stopped at IDNet, is there any troubleshooting we can do?

No problem watching BBC video clips via my connection, so I'm not sure what the problem may be, do you get any error messages either on screen or in the event log?

I also don't have problems accessing the video - on Sat I had Score interactive working fine.

The first step of any trouble shooting I can think of is to reinstall RealPlayer, to help give the codecs a refresh.

I'm sure some others on here will be able to think of a few other things to try!
