Preferably something short, too (I think all the Belkin ones are fairly long lengths). 1 metre is good, if that'll be long enough. It's best to keep it as short as possible.

Yeah, the Belkin one is just over 2m.  I wouldn't go longer if possible. :)

Sebby

I got a really good, short twisted pair lead from ADSL Nation, but they seem to have stopped doing it in the short lengths for some reason!

Sebby

By the way, silly question, but where do I find the DSL uptime? I can't see it anywhere.  :-[

Lance

I think it is on this page: http://home/xslt?PAGE=B04&THISPAGE=B03&NEXTPAGE=B04

The first "Collected for ..." is the uptime of the unit, and the DSL uptime will be the "Time since last event' on the appropriate line!

this gives a lot of info.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Am I right in thinking that the "collected for" figure is the DSL uptime? Because the "time since last event" ones change depending on the last event...

Lance

The collected for figure is how long the router has been powered up for. The time you want is the time since last event on the, from memory, dsl retrains line. I'd do a screen print, but i'm knocking this post out on my phone!

On mine, that figure is showing as 0:00:00.  ???

Rik

That's how it shows on mine, as I reset the stats (which also zeros the collected for figure).

I'm not following here.  ???

Surely until there is a DSL retrain since the device has been powered up, it's not going to register a "time since last event"?

So, is there no way I can see the DSL uptime?  :'(

Rik

For most people, it's the same as the 'collected for' time. Until I cleared that log, I also had the last DSL train event recorded as a time/date (istr). OTOH, I'm not sure whether it captured that when I first powered the router up.

That makes more sense. So I just have to wait until it reaches 336 hours then I can resync. :)

Will do.  ;)

Right, unfortunately, the 2Wire has just developed a physical fault (I haven't touched it, I swear!). This is best demonstrated with a video. :(

Rik

Looks like something is shorting to the case. :(

Or could it be a loose connection to the board? Why am I so unlucky?!

It's not a big deal, but I think it's going to irritate me...

I'll contact DigiDave tomorrow and see what they say.

Rik

All I can say is usually it's me, Sebby. I know how you feel though - it's all the more frustrating as you can't now do anything quickly.  :(

Luckily it doesn't affect the working, so it can wait to be honest, but it's just unnecessary hassle. I guess it's always a risk if you buy refurbished, though saying that I do have a 3 month warranty.

Rik

So that's 15 days before you return it, then. :)

Yep. Broadband can be so difficult.  ::)

Well to be honest, I havn't bothered with mine, it is just physically too big, and not having a stand with it means I cannot spare the room for it, I honestly thought it would come with an upright stand, it is designed to be sited in the vertical, the picture on ebay shows it in the vertical position.

Also the fact that it doesn't have an on / off switch is a real downer for my needs.

Oh well, if Digidave cannot supply a stand, then it will be going back on eBay.

If you do decide to ship it on, In, it might be worth asking in here first... Also, it would be nice if you could connect so we get an idea of what the beast can do on a good line.

It stands up on its side without the stand.  ;)

Sure, its design isn't perfect, but I can tell it's damn good router.

I may have a play over the weekend Rik, I was just so miffed that it was so big and no stand, I quickly lost interest. :(
