What's your next step, wait for another response?

Indeed Rik, just stalling by the look of things, we shall see. ;)

Just got a reply from DodgyDave suggesting that I do a " reset " of the system, I have already done that days ago, to no avail. :(

the person i got mine from said that and about 3 emails later (after me sending a screen shot showing "no dsl signal found") he finally sent me a replacement-a 1800 admittedly but hey thats history:)

Broadback

My speed has been steadily increasing since the installation on the 19th, up by 1 meg to date, I think that is as far as it will go. Incidentally I cannot see why it need installing vertically, mine has feet on the bottom so that the air can circulate.
Nothing is perfect, not even my ignorance!

Rik

If it works for you, that's fine. I tried mine both ways and vertical was distinctly cooler, so I stayed with it.

That's how mine is stood also.  At first I had it on the feet, horizontal but it was a bit too toasty for my liking.  Put it on the stand and it's much better, I prefer it that way as well as I think it looks better.  8)

Rik

It's clearly designed primarily for vertical use, given the way the front panel has been printed, but as they also put feet on, I assume they've tested it when used horizontally.

Netgears were printed for horizontal use and they got very hot, well the GT especially so I have my 2700 vertically as well Rik, seems to remain pretty cool that way as well I get the feeling most of the routers wit vertical stands work best this way  ;D
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Just got an e.mail from DodgyDave confirming that my 2700HG is faulty and that he is sending me a replacement, but to keep the faulty one, I did ask for a refund, but I guess I will have to accept a replacement.

I just got home from a couple of days away and had an email saying they were glad my router was functioning fine, and if I wanted they could refund £1.04 (the price I won it at, excluding postage). I think they've missed the point a little...

I emailed back to say I'd rather a replacement, but I'm not too fussed either way. It's an LED and the router is going to be out of sight anyway. I can't really complain for nine quid.  ;)

My 2Wire has now been sync'd for 9 days, so not too much longer to go until I meet the 14 days needed for a target SNRM drop. :)

We may yet find out what it can do on a good line then, In. :)

I thought you'd been quiet, Sebby, welcome back. :)

So, January 4 should be the big day, then?

Thanks, Rik. :)

January 4 is indeed the big day. What's more is that it's also my birthday.  8)

Have today recieved the same e-mail as Inactive from Digidave - suggesting a system reset. Have replied to the effect that I have already attempted that as well as a factory reset via the web interface. Hoping (!) for the same result as Inactive and a new replacement that works.

Will keep you informed.

Inactive, how long after the first response from Davey did he agree to the replacement ?

Cheers

Inactive

Couple of days, he has just sent dispatch details for my replacement, should arrive between 27th December and January the 1st . cough.. obviously automated carp. ;D

At least he is sending the 2700HG, which is a like for like replacement, not the 1800 that he has sent out to some as a replacement.

Just hope that this one works, he does seem to send out a lot of faulty ones. :(

Refurb = re-pack? :(

Obviously not truly refurbished, not even tested fully prior to dispatch.

They are used items Rik, mine has quite a few scratches and marks on it, as far as I can tell, the 2700HG was only supplied to ATT in the USA, so it looks like he has got a job lot from there.

Despite me having a (slightly) faulty unit, I've got to say I don't think it's quite like this. Mine certainly looked refurbished in that the casing is definitely brand new and it was in a sealed package. It's possible a couple of people here have just been unlucky.  :(

Wingnutz

Hoping for a decent replacement too. A week after getting my profile nobbled down to half a meg thanks for low sync rates with the 2700hg I'm now back up to a 3mb one with my old ST330.
