I've had another email from DigiDave today to say that a new 2700 is heading my way, so it looks like I'll have a spare after all. ;)

My MTU is set to 1500 on the router and I haven't had any problems, but I know there is an article about it on his site. I think he's clutching at straws as it may affect connecting to some websites, but not sync rate.

Ok - have changed the MTU as suggested by Davey and guess what - naff all difference. Now awaiting his next bright idea....

and also killed my profile again - 512kbps !

merlin

finally got a 2700hgb from dd , set it up as per dd 's instructions, and it cannot find a dsl line,

at one point , found it contained someones user name and password etc
tried a reset, and setup my own instead ,still no luck.

have a feeling his 12 digit code maybe wrong

somewhere on this site LANCES ,setup seems to work, but i can,t find it ,can some give me a link

any help would be greatly appreciated

thx

Sebby

I didn't use the 12 digit code. If I were you, I'd set it up manually based on these settings:

DSL Line Selection:  Automatic
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
ATM Encapsulation: Routed VC-Mux
ATM PVC Search: Disabled

I'm not certain but I think VPI/VCI have to be set correctly for it to sync with the exchange, which would explain why it's not even sync'ing at the moment.

merlin

thx sebby i'll give it a try , at the moment vci is 35 (not ) 38 do'nt know if thats it ???

Sebby

That's how it comes by default (I guess for the US?). It must be 38 for the UK.

merlin

hi sebby ,how did you get into setting up manually, i tried 192.168.1.254/mdc , but that failed to give me your first and last options.

thx

Sebby

I can't remember exactly. I just browsed to 192.168.1.254 and was able to set it up manually somehow.

Of course mine never did connect. :(

Well my replacement 2700HG has arrived from DigiDave, this one is slightly different, it has the AT&T Badge on it, no power brick included, obviously I can use the other one.

From a quick inspection this one is in far better condition than the faulty one.

I will have a play later. ;)

Still awaiting a response from Davey after atempting his MTU changes - reading further up in the thread I may try a manual install later instead of using the 12 digit code method.

Good luck with the new one In.

Thanks I will try to remember the settings that I use and post them for others, assuming of course that I get this one working. ;)

A real blast from the past. :P  ;D

Indeed Rik, the " Master " was an attempt to link with the word " bated ", but you probably knew that anyway..  ;D ;D :hehe:

Well here's the latest from Davey...

This is an unusual problem - as the modem is syncing with your line, albeit running slowly, I'm not sure it is malfunctioning, so a replacement may not be appropriate, as it may have the same problem. Is it possible to test the router with another ADSL line? (I can of course issue a return authorization for a refund, so let me know).
No admission that the router/modem is faulty or offer of a replacement so i've asked for a refund.

Will try and source another 'unlocked' one from someone else - all be it at a higher price than Davey charged me.

Rik

Have you told him that you've got another router which syncs higher?

Rik - unfortuantly no other router just the ST330 which gets me a 3-3.5Mbps sync.

No sweat, router is really shorthand for a modem/router - it's the modem part we are interested in here. If you can obtain higher sync on your line with an alternative modem, in whatever form, it's unlikely that trying the 2700 on a different line will help.

Try contacting patioheater on DSL Zone. I brought mine from him with no problems at all. I was even given the choice of software I wanted SBC/BT. He may not be the cheapest but I would recomend.

EUREKA !!!

Now running on a working 2700HG.

I just followed the instructions as per DigiDave's Web Site, 5 minutes and sorted.
