No stand with mine...  :'( :'(

That's a drag. I'd suggest adding some small feet to increase ventilation under the box.

I've just picked mine up from the Post Office. It doesn't have a stand, but it's like brand new (obviously there's no original box and stuff, but the router is in a sealed bag and looks new).

I'm going to start having a play now.  :)

Rik

Shouldn't you add the suffix, "I may be some time...", Sebby. :)

Well, I've I haven't plugged it into the phone line yet, but I've already set it up by plugging a network cable in. That was easy!

Rik

Just what I did, Sebby. Made sure everything was ready to go, then switched it into place...

You could easily make a stand from a piece of wood with a notch cut into it.
Nice piece of oak would look great.

I favour a nice piece of french-polished mahogany, Ted. :)

Okay, we're in business. As predicted, I couldn't resist hooking this up now. Despite having a target margin of 15dB, it's sync'd higher than my SpeedTouch is, attenuation is slowing slightly lower, and I'm generally very impressed! The interface is nice, the build quality is nice, and hopefully once I get my target SNRM down to 9dB, it'll sync a bit higher than my SpeedTouch allowing me to always get enough sync to achieve a 4,000k bRAS profile.

Does anyone want to buy a SpeedTouch 585v6?  ;)

Rik

It's amazing the speed at which these boxes convert us, isn't it. :)

Especially when you think you've got the best router (the SpeedTouch 585v6) then something else just blows it out the water. I wish my target SNRM wasn't messed up; I'd love to see what sync I could achieve at 9dB. Oh well, patience is a virtue. :)

Rik

It will be, Sebby, but your rewards will follow. :)

Hopefully the BT guy will reset it for me. If not I'll just have to wait.

But add me to the list of very satisfied 2700 users. I can tell already!  :)

I know this is probably the kiss of death but........

A few days ago i was syncing at 7328. i powered down the router ripped out all the ringwires, changed all the filters and rebooted. Resynced at 7616 ever since, NM of 12db. Did a speedtest an hour ago 6578 (gulp) if i get past 9000 i'll stop tinkering ;D

If you're using an extension socket (which I presume you are) then removing the ring wire is - more than likely - going to reduce noise a little, hence giving you a higher sync. You'd probably get an even higher sync if you fitted a filtered faceplate and sited the router at the master socket. ;)

There is a strong possibility that could happen ;D
Not quite sure what Liz will say about the router next to her flowers on the lounge windowsill and the cat5 cable nailed to the walls, seriously though an adsl nation faceplate is an option.

Would you like me to explain the absolute need to her, Ted? I can be very persuasive. ;)

I have an adsl nation faceplate and the router from the mastersocket Ted, they are great faceplates it made a difference using cat 5 and that faceplate even before the 2700  :) I could get Justina to help Rik for the added female touch
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Yes i concur.

I am using screened cat6 cable to the router (just for good measure)

on a side note has anyone got the voip side working from the hidden pages?

quick quote of 1 how to i found:-

First thing you want to be doing is stopping telstra from updating these things theres two ways to do this firstly using firefox and the webdeveloper toolbar go to home/xslt?PAGE=J30 you will see 2 fields one with remotedsl.bigpond.com and the other with css://...blah blah on the webdev toolbar click on forms->"make form fields writable" you should now be able to modify these two fields. enter anything you like and internal ip address is fine or just a random word just as long as you change whatever was in there before. Make sure "SIP Application Layer Gateway" is enabled and hit submit.
The other way to disable the updating is setting dns entries as mentioned above.

To setup voip click on Disable->disable meta redirects (on the webdev toolbar) and direct your browser to home/xslt?PAGE=J62 click edit next to profile 0 and enter your voip settings, once you have submitted your settings ensure the box next to Profile 0 is checked and hit submit on this page. Now go to home/xslt?PAGE=J65 and "Associate the Line with a Server" set line 1 to whatever you called your voip profile previously, submit. Now go to home/xslt?PAGE=V01 and follow the steps once you get to xslt?PAGE=V03 click edit next to the first phone line make sure username and authname are the same i have network call feature checked but I'm not sure if it makes a difference enter your password for your voip service. submit this info and check the activate box on the first line. you should be right from here just make sure any boxes that say enabled are checked. And there you have it VoIP on your telstra modem. you can check the status on home/xslt?PAGE=V00 to see if it worked or just look at the detailed log (home/mdc down the bottom)

Telstra's attempt at blocking voip configuration involved a meta redirect and a read only field, thats a pretty poor effort from telstra.

btw you should keep meta redirects disabled throughout this procedure otherwise you will be sent to a Page not found error

Ted

Thanks for the offer Rik but i don't think women get it ;D I mean, you don't need a car that does 200mph, Its just nice to know that it can >:D And hey, they both hold the same amount of shopping.
Typing a bit slowly now whilst putting on the flak jacket, kevlar helmet, and cowering under the desk :o

Get yourself a shielded ADSL cable as well, much better quality.  I think Belkin do one. :D

Preferably something short, too (I think all the Belkin ones are fairly long lengths). 1 metre is good, if that'll be long enough. It's best to keep it as short as possible.
