Just bring her in and we'll pin a karma or two on her. ;)

think i should say ,i did buy another 2700 off ebay, turned out to be brand new ,with all the bells and whistles, BT version, stand , cables ,large psu, etc etc.

connected up ,set it up, works perfectly first go . :)

it was an ebay member with a one off sale, otherwise i would have mentioned, the source on this forum.
i was just lucky i guess  :) :)

Rik

Most of the 2700s have been fine, it seems to be just the one source which has given problems. :(

Indeed Rik, I have not seen any reports of faulty 2700's other than those from DD.

Well guess what !!

This newest one that has been " tested " by DD, is exactly the same as the last one, it works but drops my speed to around the 500 mark, obviously these are a batch of faulty units that he is sending out, time to insist on a refund.

:sigh:

Good luck with it, In! Not that you should need it as he hasn't a leg to stand on!

About the only consolation I can offer, In, is that you probably would have seen little or no benefit from it. It does surprise me that DD keeps doing this, though, he must realise that his reputation will quickly be established in forums like this.

One for the good, the bad and the ugly, perhaps?

I think his website is enough to make me wary. That graphic!  :eek4:
That graphic also gives me the creeps, like some sort of dodgy car salesman with brylcream in his hair
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

I was thinking more of cheap Dover clipart from the 60s. :)

Update on my 2700HG / IDnet experience.

Previously with Virgin (trafific shaped and throttled !) and using a USB ST330 modem.

Sync's would vary from 2000kbps to 3000kbps on each reboot of the PC. Profiles would also jump around reaching 2500kbps during good periods and my noise margin got increased to 15db.

thanks to Rik and James on Customer Support the noise margin has been reduced to 9db and I am pleased to say I now have a sync rate of 5568kbps, a 4500kbps profile. If only I could find that extra 100kbps or so to move me into the 5000kbps profile.

Very pleased with the outturn.

Mike

Rik

Glad to hear that, Mike. If you haven't had a play with your internal phone wiring, you may be able to extract that extra 100k, or re-booting the router in the morning might do it for you.

Update;  Caroline has agreed to a full refund, however she wants me to send back the last two ( working but faulty ) ones, she will refund postage costs.

Just one slight problem, I received the email at 17.51, Post Office closed, I leave for Spain at around 0600 in the morning, oh well.

Not the end of the world, but this has been kicking around now since the 17th December.

Could you leave them with a neighbour, In?

Nice thought Rik, but it is now 11.44 pm, all of my neighbours are in bed by 10.00 pm and I leave at around 0600, they will still be snoring their socks off.
;D
I have told Caroline that I will send them back on my return.

I'd send her a message to that effect, forget about it and enjoy your holiday (?), and sort it when you get back. :)

Thanks Rik, but if I go via MK, I will never get to Spain. ;D
