A little torrent help.....

Me again!

I was downloading a torrent and it was an album that I'd got a massive scratch through so thought I'd download it.

but after about 10 seconds i get an error message saying....

"Error: The process cannot access the file because it it being used by another process"

I only mention it here because after looking through the forums i noticed a lot of you use nod32 so i tried it and wondered if it may be that. I have also put on win amp as well so i thought maybe that may be doing it.

I have tried turning of settings in both but not having any luck.

this is what it running on my comp if it helps.

i think it maybe win amp trying to access the torrent as its mp3 whilst its downloading?

maybe i shouls uninstall it. i'll try anything.

It might not cure your problem but we would find it amusing.

Is this after you've downloaded it and are trying to play it? If so, it's probably because you still have uTorrent open, and it's seeding the file. Close uTorrent fully, and it should play OK.

the mp3 will still play even if you are seeding it, some other programme is trying to access your mp3, shut down all the ones you don't need, even nod 32 if you dare, then try the mp3 again, restarting the programmes one at a time until you find the culprit.

Try installing unlocker (I have version 1.8.5) this will pop up any process, and allow you to kill it.

My guess is that you've selected Open With (utorrent) instead of Save to Disk.

Or you have a torrent extension running in Firefox.

Is there another user logged onto the computer at the same time? Try clicking on 'show process from all users'

thanks for all the replys guys. have been playing around and it looks like nod32 had a "Scanner" that keeps an eye on folders and it was reading the file as it was downloading.

I found this out because instead of downloading to my "Downloads" folder i went straight for the desktop and it had no problem. was hard to tweak no32 but got there in the end.

if it happens again........................ "I'll be back"
