Vista SP1 Includes "Crypto" Backdoor

It has been discovered that Microsoft has decided to include a random number generator in Vista's Service Pack 1 that has a known flaw.

Is Microsoft so far gone that they are including things for absolutely no reason at all? Or does this algorithm have some hidden function?

TBH im really going off MS, its gone downhill since Mr Gates handed the keys over (in terms of development) - this could actually make a good film, Terminator 3 springs to mind..but im sure there are others where a "Virus" manipulates majority of machines across the world to do what the owner of the "virus" wants.

They need to go back to XP, reprogram that with a better filesystem (non fragmenting etc.) but wait!!!!! where are they going to get their payments from defragmentor companies...its all one big conspiracy xD

Vista was a mistake never mind the RC lol. Then again ive installed SP3..whats that going to do? Stick flashing lights across my house displaying my IP address and hacking instructions? lol

I don't think it was a mistake, but in many respects (e.g. performance) it feels like a step back.

A year or so ago, I tried to get into Linux for 6 months, but in the end I went back to XP. You might disagree, but as a newbie, I found everything to be difficult and complicated, and I'm pretty good with computers. I happen to like forums and solving problems, so I used the Ubuntu Forums regularly to solve issues, but it just became tiresome. Ultimately, my biggest gripe was performance. It was painfully slow compared to XP on my (what was then a 1.6GHz Centrino-based Sony VAIO) computer.

I love the idea of Linux, but in practice I found it a complete and utter nuisance.

Im useless at it, in fact i have under a fortnights of experience. I know where you are coming from, XP is good, simple and actually gets the job done. I just cant justify paying for another nod32 license, having to buy office or something like that...sticking up with adware this, spyware that wen ultimately all i use my laptop for is programming at college, typing stuff on train home and browsing teh internetz. Im going to have to virtualise XP though for Visual basic...if only they made a linux release

I wonder if it will be effective, given MS' history of auto-updating some files, even if you turn auto-update off?

I think the SP1 for vista will iron out a lot of bugs and as for SP3 for xp it will be good to have those 1000 or so updates since SP2 came out all on one hand dvd hopefully

still think making xp faster than vista, is odd marketing

Historically, I think the blockers have worked, but you never know with MS.

Since they are designed for business primarily I think they will work, but after a period of time which is 12mths with these new ones they will stop working and the service pack will download
