I remember putting some loudspeakers next to my old CRT TV once, powerful magnets, ended up with a lovely mauve/green screen, it self-cured in an hour or so after moving them away. ;D
A friends little girl did that on the front of their CRT with a magnet, alas they were not so lucky Inactive :(

Odd, the only ones I hear are the ones that say, "You really should log off now", and then I realise Sue has come in and it's 2am again. :)

Regarding interference and vacuum cleaners.
40 odd years ago we moved into an upstairs flat of a house right on the main road.

One day I was in my usual position stretched out on the settee, helping my wife do the hoovering by keeping my feet up  ::), when all of a sudden a male voice echoed around the room emanating from the vacuum cleaner!!  My wife dropped it as if it was red-hot!

Turned out it was that new invention ......... Taxi Radio!!

Speaking of the 2wire...... I just upgraded a fixed line from 1mbit (far far away from exchange) to max dsl.

Attached are the stats - its been up for over 3 days without retraining and I can't actually believe it.

Good speed for that attenuation, I get about 3232 on 56db.  :'(

I'm absolutely amazed... I haven't seen such a long line hold that sort of speed before. 3mbit is about the highest. I'm going to test it with a netgear sometime soon to see what the difference is.

Rik

My Netgear would sync about 400k lower, with a wildly fluctuating noise margin (7db).
